All about the price tag..

Ugh, why are so many caravan related items SO expensive? We are great believers in never spending ridiculous amounts of money on things that can be achieved for far less and also if I can I make things. Not everyone is confident in making things but it’s always worth a try!

Our sunshade for the canopy for one, read about it here . Very easy to sew, you only need some insect screening from the garden centre and some awning trim. One line of sewing and it doesn’t necessarily have to be all that straight! Saved a bunch of £’s.

The Remoska – with years of patience, I managed to pick up one including the recipe book, from a charity shop for the price of the recipe book alone £9.99.

Dyson hoover, eBay or local selling sites are your friends. Pick up a used one for very little money, wash the filters out and tada!

Carpets. As much as I like a carpet in the van – it’s obviously warmer underfoot during winter and stops sand scurrying about in the summer, I don’t like not being able to clean them properly, especially with J 🐶 and J 🐶 in and out. We use 2 x washable Hall runners and 1 door mat that’s been cut down to fit into the recess by the door. We bought ours from Dunelm, they’re also eco friendly.

Take your coffee machine with you! OK, not necessarily a caravan item per se, but it means fresh coffee and hot drinks without the price tag, and of course Café TSW is always open to friends 😎

I don’t think a cover is available for your caravan whirly gig, but it’s simple to get one, handy for our British weather! Read more here.

Your pitch fees. If you don’t know about CLs and CSs already, or if you’ve never tried one go and find one! You can get lovely serviced pitches for well under £20/night.

I could go on and on, but look at second hand items, recycling, up cycling and reusing are things we should all be doing more of, they will also save you £’s on new prices.

As a whole us caravanners tend to look after things, yes there’s always an exception, so you’ll get excellent quality kit. Second hand cars, caravans, accessories, you name it, you can get it, even if it means waiting impatiently for a while for something to pop up in your price bracket or if you want something specific.

We’ve bought these items preloved and saved loads: cadac, cadac safari chef, remoska, dyson cordless, Westfield rollaway awning, Isabella awning carpet, caravans, Dandy camper, esterel folding caravan, caravan directors chairs, I’m sure there’s many more!

What have your bargains been?

Happy bargain hunting 😁
